I wonder if they removed the convertible tops before putting the topper on them
[edit] Just checked, must be, as it would poke out otherwise. Some body somewhere is selling dozens of new used mini convertible tops

I used to get so many free redbulls from those in college.

I almost bought a retired one last year. Unfortunately it was incorrectly listed as a manual.

I never did get free red bulls from one in college, that was more of a frat guy thing... and I liked the taste of monster better anyway.

You would have thought that the maintenance issues would have convinced them to switch brands

really?  I feel like they both pretty much taste the same, except redbull is sugared shit and monster is super sugared shit.  I still drink them.....

Redbull has more of a cough medicine taste to me.  Even the ones with different flavoring still have it.

I see one of these running around near the SMU campus. If every car has a story, this one’s is a comic book.

I saw one of those when I went to London with a group from high school in 1999. And somehow, I managed to take a picture of it, no doubt with a disposable film camera:

I could not believe that it came out.

They’ll all horrid, IMO. I drink powdered pre-workout and similar energy drinks. You only have to chug 6-8 ounces of liquid, no carbonation, arguably healthier, and about 30-50 cents each (vs $2+)

But zero brand recognition or cachet.

Wow, I never knew they did them with the old Cooper! I only saw the modern MINIs in the US.

I was also in London with school in the summer of ‘99. Just for a few days, we spent most of the mini-semester down in Plymouth in the SW. I took about 5 disposable cameras with me and have exactly zero prints from that trip.

Same, but my wife prefers redbull and vodka. I decided to quit on the “energy” drinks and start with coffee, although a feet amount of creamer, but it’s likely healthier or less damaging.

Same. I wanted to join them. Driving around to random cities and handing out Red Bull seemed like a cool job. Still does.

i try to avoid them all as much as i can, only in emergency situations do I get them. At my old job i had one of those little squirt bottle flavor things that had caffeine in them. Probably the same shit, just concentrated that you add to water.  It freaks me out when you hear of these people that drink multiple redbulls/monsters a day.

I drink a cup of coffee in the morning, then normally one energy drink in the afternoon (in lieu of coffee, which reams my stomach). As far as caffeine intake, it’s pretty modest — 100-150 mg for each drink, spread across the day. But having it right before a run or a lifting session (or just during the afternoon lull) definitely gets me through the day.

I used to do like most people and just front-load my caffeine in the morning, but that just made me anxious all morning and cranky/tired all afternoon :D

FSAE team had a product only sponsorship with Red Bull  in college. For late night work in the machine shop.

Wow, that’s funny. It’s the only time I’ve been to London or that whole area in general, strangely enough. I was 18 and loving the fact that the drinking age was 18. My mind was blown.

Same here. I was 20 and the fact that we could stumble around Covent Garden all afternoon barhopping in broad daylight was a real novelty. But just being in a big city in general. That’s the fun part about overseas travel when you live in a college town or a small town — you get the foreign culture shock and the city culture shock all at the same time.

Sometimes, but usually Optimum Amino Energy (less Beta Alanine, more amino-focused; less itching). Sometimes Optimum PWO. I’ve also tried the cheapo brand called Six Star and just hate the flavors .

We drank black coffee from cut in half pop bottles to stay awake while designing and building our BUV capstone project. Took 2nd place with an awful front suspension design too. https://www.alfredstate.edu/news/2015-03-04/asc-takes-second-place-national-buv-competition

Barely got second even though we lost 5 points for an inappropriate sponsor sticker.  Learned a valuable life lesson from that one.

I HATED the itchiness that C4 had.  They were a main sponsor for Tough Mudder for a while and they gave out free samples.  I rarely partook of them unless it was the 2nd day in a row I was doing the course.

Some of those can be pretty intense and I’m still skeptical that beta alanine does anything besides the itching (not very noticeable if you’re exercising hard). I completely missed the trend of PWO drinks over the past 10 years or so. That wasn’t a think when I started lifting, but now a lot of people act like you can’t live without it. I only use it for the caffeine when I’m sick of coffee and carbonation.

Give the Amino Energy a shot if you’d like. Lots of good flavors, mixes well, and any itching would be very minor. No extra stuff like creatine in there, either.
